Mobile Usage

One of the best parts of AI coding is that it makes remote coding way more accessible, even on your phone.

Before agents, if I wasn't at my personal computer, I just didn't code – it was too painful. Now, if my agent finishes a task while I'm AFK, I check the output on my phone and send the next prompt immediately. I'm not as productive as I am at my computer, but it's nice to be able to keep up momentum.

Some of us find this vaguely dystopian, but we may as well embrace the future.

The architecture for mobile use is simple:

  1. Your agent runs on your local computer
  2. The GUI (chat interface) runs on your phone
  3. They connect through an (optionally self-hosted) OpenTunnel connection

Connections through OpenTunnel are end-to-end encrypted. If you really want control of the connection, you can even self-host OpenTunnel on your own server, though that takes more setup, of course.

Assignment

Let's get you coding from your toilet.

  1. opencode pair --remote

Notice that your terminal mirrors your phone's session, and vice versa!
