Learn AI Coding

AI slop is here. It's come for art, it's come for writing, and it's come for coding. That said, four years into "AI is taking your job," the need for human artists, writers, and developers remains. Why?

It's the "slop" part. LLMs are a stochastic reversion to the mean: an average of what a human expert might create given the same inputs. But averages are, well, average. Good teams want better than average.

LLMs are incredible productivity boosters if you use them with precision, judgment, and taste. This course will teach you to use agentic AI tooling effectively as a developer. We'll use OpenCode, but everything we cover also applies to tools like Claude Code, Codex, and the rest.

You Need Coding Skills

"Vibe coding" is the "practice" of generating code with AI and shipping it with near-zero oversight. It's what overly enthusiastic product managers non-developers do.

This is not a course on vibe coding! This is a course for people with at least a basic understanding of code, who want to boost their productivity. Non-technical people can also multiply their productivity with AI... but the multiplier is often negative.

Boot.dev CLI

We'll use the Boot.dev CLI to test work on your machine. The CLI has two modes:

  • bootdev run <id> runs checks without submitting.
  • bootdev run -s <id> or bootdev submit <id> submits your work and marks the lesson complete when it passes.

for Windows Users

If you try to complete this course without WSL 2 installed on Windows, you're gonna have a bad time.

Assignment

Submit the CLI tests.
