Custom Visualizations

Now we're tracking every HTTP request with a counter! Prometheus scrapes and stores that data in its metrics database. All we're missing is a visualization.

Assignment

Build a custom Grafana panel for Linko request rates.

In Grafana, click Dashboards -> New -> New dashboard.
Click Add visualization.
Select your Prometheus data source.
Using the GUI, update the "Metric" of the query to http_requests_total.
Under Options -> Legend, enter {{status}} so each line is labeled by HTTP status.
Update the time range of the panel to "Last 5 minutes" and the refresh interval to "5s".
Reload the Linko homepage at http://localhost:8899, login, and shorten a few URLs to generate some traffic. You should see some cool new lines start to appear live in your dashboard!
In "Panel options" on the right hand side, set the title to "HTTP Requests Total".
Click Apply, then Save dashboard. Set the title to "Linko App Metrics" and click "Save."

Run and submit the CLI tests from the root of the Linko repo.
