Filters

Formatting improves how your charts look, while filters control what data they display. They're perfect for slicing the data at view time into specific regions, time periods, or categories without changing your dataset or power query transformations.

There are three main types of filters in Power BI, and they're shown in the "Filters" pane to the left of the "Visualizations" pane.

Visual-Level Filters: Affect only the selected chart
Page-Level Filters: Affect all visuals on the same page
Report-Level Filters: Affect every page in the entire report

I use filters depending on who is using this dashboard/visualization. Do they need all the data? Will they want to filter on something specific? Then I'll add whichever filter I need.

Assignment

On your Customers page, select your "Customers by Payment Type" bar chart.
Drag customer_region from the data pane into "Filters on this visual."

Be careful not to add a page-level filter! If one lands under "Filters on this page" by mistake, hover it and click the X to remove it.
Filter to show only customers in the Midwest.

Save the project and, from the course directory, submit the CLI tests.
